Steps for completing all required clearances and trainings (due annually in July)

Volunteers and coaches are required to maintain their clearances and trainings in their GotSport profile.

1. You are required to have the following clearances in order to be a Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Team Manager:

• FBI Fingerprints - Required for all paid coaches. Also, required for any volunteers who have lived in PA for less than 10 years.

OR

• Affidavit of Compliance - Required for volunteers who have lived in PA for at least 10 years.

AND

• PA State Criminal Clearance - Required by everyone
• PA State Child Abuse Clearance - Required by everyone

Once completed, these clearances are valid for 60 months/5 years.  If any of your clearances are dated 2020 or earlier they must be updated immediately as they have either already expired or will expire in 2025.

2. You are also required to complete the following trainings in order to be fully cleared:

• SafeSport
• HeadsUp - Concussion Training
• EPYS Risk Management Certification

All trainings are available in your GotSport profile.

Additional information about SafeSport

The courses should be taken as follows: 

• Year 1: SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation 
• Year 2: Refresher 1 
• Year 3: Refresher 2 
• Year 4: Refresher 3 
• Year 5: SafeSport Trained – U.S. Soccer Federation (the cycle begins again) 

Please only take the latest SafeSport course that is relevant to you, if this year is your first or fifth year, you will need to take the extended course, if it is your second/third/fourth you will take the relevant refresher course.

Also note, if your SafeSport is not due to expire in 30 days, it will not be available for you to complete through GotSport. USSF only makes it available 30 days prior to expiration. However, as this is an annual training, you WILL at some point this season be required to renew.

3. When you have completed your clearances, please email Dave Milroy, Risk Management Coordinator.

As you can see in the image below, all trainings and clearances have an expiration date next to them on your dashboard. If any of your clearances (FBI/Child Welfare/PA State Police) are due to expire in 2025, please begin the process of renewing ASAP.
